Weather attributes analysis

Following animation 1 collected from NEA from 17 July 2015 to 25 July 2015 shown how the 10m surface wind move. Clearly you can see that during this time of the year wind direction generally from South to South East which we refer to South or South East wind.

While second image taken from NEA record shown that last year 2014 during the same period of time, wind movement is generally the same. Currently I'm working towards animate this real time data into my future research. Any technology based enthusiast is welcome to email me to explore new ideas to present this data for greater good.

To date, I would guess that most of you would want to know how accurate are these sun analysis. To prove my point and the accuracy of the software which we are using, I have analyzed it on the existing building itself with date, time, geo referencing and time zone exactly as when the photo was taken.

I’m using Punggol Arcadia at 1.401667N, 103.903256E block 289B and 289C as case study. If you don’t know where this development is, you just need to copy the coordinate given and paste it to google earth. Images were taken from the development next door called The Prive. Both are designed by the same architect firm.

Here are 2 samples of the analysis based on 2 different set of date and time. In terms of floor height and area which was cast by shadow, it’s almost similar and 99% accuracy can be achieve if all details of the development were to be drawn like windows, parapet wall, window sill etc. Building information modeling or BIM have been extensively used in aerospace industry to optimized material usage. In the construction industry, BIM exist since year 1970 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Building_information_modeling). This explains why many of this blog early reader were from aerospace industry.  Technically we can simulate the building performance during the design stage to determine the outcome of the building itself. Then you will ask me then why is it that our houses in Singapore are not fully optimized? If you have time for tea and chat, just drop me an email to explain how we can change this!

1. For amateurs who want to do this, please note that we have industry standard to adhere to and it's not as simple as few clicks. 

2. Note that the Punggol Arcadia model was not fully built as I have left out all the core area.

3. If ever a sales agent tell you that he/she knows which part of the building and when it will have shadow casting, you can call him a cheat unless he/she produce this simulation.
